유네스코한국위원회가 독자 여러분과 함께 생각해 보고 싶은 이야기를 소개합니다.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU).
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations established in 1945 to promote international cooperation within the fields of education, science and education, with the aim of promoting world peace and the development of humankind. It is the only UN agency whose function in the Republic of Korea has been given a separate legal basis, through the 1963 Act Concerning UNESCO Activities.
National Commissions around the world cooperate with other UNESCO-related organizations to provide information and consultation on UNESCO activities, as well as to run local and international programmes. Since its establishment in 1954, the KNCU has successfully carried out programmes both in and outside of Korea, and is recognized as an exemplary National Commission by UNESCO's headquarters and other National Commissions.
We will continue to carry out our programmes with efficiency, while expanding our partnerships with stakeholders both at home and abroad, and strengthening the monitoring and evaluation of our programmes. We ask for your continued interest and participation in KNCU's activities as we carry on UNESCO's work to plant the seeds of peace in the minds of humankind worldwide.
