Kangwon National University (joined in 2024)
Established in 2024, the UNESCO Chair at Kangwon National University leads initiatives in Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and cultural diversity. In response to globalisation and international crises, the Chair provides education aimed at fostering responsible citizenship and cultural empathy. The university engages in diverse international partnerships, including student exchanges with Freie Universität Berlin and regional collaborations with the UNESCO Beijing Office, the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), and the UNESCO Chair at Kyushu University. On 24 April 2025, Kangwon National University delivered a keynote address at the International Forum on Forced Displacement in Africa, co-hosted by Yonhap News Agency and UNHCR. The university aspires to become a regional hub for GCED and cultural diversity through the continued expansion of both domestic and international networks.
