|Capacity-Building Workshop for Managers of Internationally Designated Areas|
The Korean National Commission for UNESCO organized a Capacity-Building Workshop for Managers of Internationally Designated Areas (IDAs) from Septermber 30 to October 4 2019, with the financial support of South Korea's Ministry of Environment and the Jeju Government. The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of managers of all types of IDA through the sharing of good practices, discussion of challenges, and field visits.
Twenty participants were selected to attend the workshop following recommendations from National Commissions for UNESCO in the Africa and Asia-Pacific regions. The participants shared their own experiences and learned from the achievements and different perspectives of others, to help them find new and better solutions to challenges such as managing sustainable development and ecotourism, which are common to all IDAs.
