Meeting with the UNESCO ADG and other officials from the Social and Human Sciences Sector in Asia-Pacific

A number of officials from UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences (SHS) Sector visited the Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU) on 5 September. Ms. Nada Al-Nashif, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, and other SHS officials from UNESCO offices in the Asia-Pacific region met with staff members of KNCU while visiting Korea to attend the 2019 UNESCO Sport and SDGs Funshop, co-organized by UNESCO and the Lee Seung-Yuop Baseball Foundation. Ms. Al-Nashif shared details of the progress of major projects in the SHS Sector and expressed her hopes of cooperating with KNCU in the Asia-Pacific region.

Other officials who attended the meeting included Mr. Irakli Khodeli, from UNESCO Jakarta, Mr. F. W. Russell-Rivoallan, from UNESCO Beijing, Mr. Juan Pablo Ramirez Miranda, from UNESCO New Delhi, and Ms. Undral Ganbaatar, from UNESCO Bangkok.

The UNESCO Sport and SDGs Funshop is a capacity-building and networking programme for youth leaders from across Asia and the Pacific. This year, 60 participants from around 30 countries participated in the four-day programme, which was held from 5 to 8 September in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
